I cannot emphasize enough how much literally all of you need to read this series.
All the fun and adventure of The Mummy with deep social justice and historical awareness. It's*unbelievably* good.
I don't generally recommend all books to all people. This is an incredible exception.

I was surprised to find none of the X-men or New Mutants covers from my 13th year really jumped out at me, but I really fiercely loved MythAdventures!
Wanted to second the White Space series and point out that the books are fairly independent, in case one of the latter books sounds more to her liking than the first.
