Many clinical studies have shown reduced cancer risk in people with diabetes of obesity taking GLP-1 family of drugs. A new JCI piece makes the case these drugs should be studied to reduce cancer in people without metabolic disease jci.org/articles/vie...

Does anyone want to collaborate on a #breastcancer #obesity #immune project who has a PhenoCycler or can analyze more than 7 protein markers per slide at once? I ran into a road block. #Science

Pretty sad. Just got the email that CZI is canceling the second round of Diversity Leadership Awards. Private industry will definitely not fill the hole that NIH and NSF are leaving. πŸ˜’πŸ’”

A few days ago my neighbor said she was furious but wasn't sure yet what to do. I told her there have to be lines or waves of resistance and when the group ahead of her needed a break, she can take over and will have learned more by then. A relay is the perfect analogy.

I'm in a red state (I'm not a republican) and it is terrifying here now. We feel helpless but some are speaking out as best we can. I wake up crying at night worried about my family's future but also about our country. It's gutting to see these men destroy our global relationships, all for power πŸ˜”

Science question... does anyone know what fraction (in general) of cholesterol is converted to steroid hormones in humans, vs other downstream cholesterol products? My husband says it's negligible... 😐 Does cholesterol go up after menopause in women?

This is Ayla, named after my favorite book character (The Clan of the Cave Bear). She swims every day, no matter what. It's 57 degrees now, and the pool is frigid, but she just swam. Fitting, because Ayla in the book was famous for her daily swims, even breaking ice to get in #samandayla

First post. I'm working on a new strategy for setting and meeting goals. One personal goal is to read more books. To this end, I organized one of my bookshelves. Do you see one of your favorites? Stacks on the counter and what to put in the middle are in progress, but feeling centered now 😊
