He told advocates during the meeting that if they disrupted citizens to the point of being untenable, the agency would roll them back. In another instance, the Social Security Administration briefly ended a contract that had allowed parents of newborn babies in Maine to sign their children up for a Social Security number at the hospital, instead requiring them to do so in person at an office. Mr. Dudek said he had ordered the move after watching Janet Mills, Maine's Democratic governor, clash with Mr. Trump at the White House. He quickly reversed that decision, as well as another to end electronic death reporting in the state.
"I was ticked at the governor of Maine for not being real cordial to the president," Mr. Dudek said in the interview. "I screwed up. I'll admit I screwed up."
The acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration admits he retaliated against the entire population of Maineβmostly newborn babies and their parentsβbecause he thought the stateβs governor had been rude to Trump in a White House meeting. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/24/u...

Seems like has been very little coverage of protests happening in the U.S.--not necessarily an intentional media blackout (although possibly), but the result of a longstanding stance in legacy media that protests aren't worth covering, activists aren't credible sources (but somehow CEOs are), etc.

In many ways, that's a welcome correction, writes River Page today. But the problem, he says, is that the Trump administration, and many of its highest-profile supporters, "are fueling the idea that any minority with a job might not actually deserve it. These people see DEI everywhere." The left says the anti-DEI crusade is just an excuse for bigotry. Don't prove them right, argues River. Read his column: "What DEI Isn't." ***
This is actually in the same Bari Weiss newsletter blast this morning.
There is something deeply, darkly funny about the Free Press spending months fomenting exactly this before being concerned about going too far.
MORE FROM THE FREE PRESS EXCLUSIVE: Trump Is Starving an Agency That Really Matters "It's been a bloodbath." That's how one staffer describes the fallout at the National Endowment for Democracy after a DOGE order blocked its funding. In a Free Press exclusive, Eli Lake reports on the order for the first time, and reveals that it has left the organization-a major instrument of U.S. soft power that helped win the Cold War-unable to meet payroll and pay basic overhead expenses. Read Eli's report on the latest organization in DOGE's sights-and why its dismantling isn't just another cost-cutting measure, but could cause real damage: "Trump Is Starving the National Endowment for Democracy."

12.02.2025 13:05 β π 1916 π 344 π¬ 38 π 24Why did Trump have himself put in charge of the Kennedy Center?
Because he knows that the educated and cultured people who patronize it despise him.
So he seeks revenge. And he knows that his being in charge of the center will destroy it.
Eric Adams sold out this city to get the Trumps to fix his personal problem, simple as that.
