When I came out my conservative, religious (Christian) father-in-law said to my spouse "I think it's weird and I don't understand it but it's none of my business" which, honestly, great, I'm delighted with that and he's never once used the wrong name or misgendered me since.

When someone makes an apology post it's worth looking at how they respond when people don't accept the apology. If they want to mitigate the harm they'll understand why people might not accept their apology but if they push back/act like they deserve forgiveness their apology isn't worth anything.

In the first Trump administration I saw a lot of "Melania join us!" signs at protests in DC and this does the same thing, simultaneously infantilizing these women/robbing them of their agency and absolving them when these are choices they're making.

I like how virtually everyone told her this would happen and she's posting as if is a new thing she discovered and not, again, what virtually everyone told her would happen. She clearly still isn't listening or connecting with what other people have said, she just wants to be allowed in.
