My moms version of this was about bedtime. If I protested bedtime I was clearly over tired and cranky so I needed to sleep. If I didn’t protest, clearly I was exhausted and should go to bed. I was in my 20s before I realized the trap she laid.

They always seem to forget that GTA sales have an insanely long tail largely thanks to PC. PC isn’t going to be available at launch. Likely it’s 1-2 years post launch. They will saturate the console market quickly but then it’ll flatten until PC. That’s where the money is.

I use players as it's a term that I feel encompasses more people. Anyone can play one of the games I work on. Not just gamers.

People generally don't quite understand this yet but the impact of these layoffs from 2022 through today, even if they stop now to return to 2021 levels, are going to impact the games industry and games themselves as a medium for well over a decade. We've guaranteed games will be worse for years.

All task management tools are terrible... but I think Asana might be the abolute most terrible.

American's take on time off is absolutely broken. I've worked places where people were terrified to take more than 2 days off in a row, for fear of punishment. I've worked with people who take pride in the fact they haven't taken a vacation day in years.

Me? Starting tomorrow I'm off for 2 weeks.

As a 14 year old, Mario 64, and later Zelda 64, changed how I thought about video games completely. It felt like the moment in the Wizard of Oz when you go from black and white to full color.

I'm seriously concerned that my current job could be the last job I'm ever able to get in game development with how the industry is trending.

This is a new, sickening, tactic at large companies... cutting off slack access to large groups of people during a big layoff to prevent them from saying anything that other employees can read.
