A8 #TLSkyChat I have a group of librarians that are a great resource when I’m questioning a book. I’ve relied on them many times when purchasing & weeding books. They are a great reality check.

A7 #TLSkyChat Our district has some requirements for book purchases (like 2 professional positive reviews). There is also a district wide procedure for when a challenge is made or questioning a library book.

#TLSkyChat We are required to review & update our collection development policy annually based on district library regulations. Each library develops their own CDP. We review it w our admin. The 1st year my admin said he had no idea I did all that! They include access & intellectual freedom policies

A4 #TLSkyChat as I said earlier, I have a book display, bookmarks (w various messages) & coloring pages (Bad Kitty this year). At the ES level, I find the resources a bit lacking. This year’s resources referencing 1984 isn’t meaningful for our ES students.

It survived a challenge in our district too (at the HS & SS level). Was so glad the community supported this book being available to our students.

Our public library is wonderful. They just sent out a free author visit event that several of us librarians are attending.

Yes & I wish there was more ES focused resources. Most if the resources are MS & HS focused.

A8 #TLSkyChat the Warrior Cats new graphic novels are a big hit & the student are always checking to see if we have the latest one.

I also keep a spreadsheet of lessons & activities.

A7 #TLSkyChat I keep my lessons on one set of Google slides, I keep my monthly display stuff in folders by month & I keep my weekly lesson materials in bins by my desk.

A6 #TLSkyChat For my check out only classes, it is scheduling a regular check out time. For my specials classes, I usually send a shot email letting them know what we’ve been working on & if there is anything they’d like me to cover during library.

A4 #TLSkyChat I’m sounding like a broken record but seeing the Ss each year, I really just do a refresher. This year I shared about the changes (genrefied fiction & 2nd GN shelf). I do a little tour w new students.

I have games & our Ss love them - even if they are just there for a 15 min check out.
