This is gold, thank you so much! (I had Kurdish neighbors growing up, I do know that food a little bit!)

Hey, MSP: where am I taking my family for a birthday dinner in St Paul tonight? Ordway at 7:30, so earlyish and not too far from downtown. Would love your suggestions.

I kinda gave up trying to explain to people who don’t live here

It does that really well! It was not the right thing for my family, but BOY can I see the utility for many families and kids!

There’s not much published in that lane, and I think COLOR TASTE TEXTURE is a pretty important book. :)

I had to document some things today and it was Not Great.
But all my kids were here for dinner, and there was cake, and my husband arranged a cameo video of Andy Merrill (Brak) for me, and I took tomorrow off and I think I’m going to the Conservatory & getting Thai food for lunch.

That’s fair, thank you for saying so.
This is not a climate where joking about these things is going to land well.

Looks like Stewart may want to be today’s main character.
(I am already enraged with a different mediocre white man today, he’s lucky I didn’t swear at him)

School librarians are licensed teachers, often with advanced degrees, who teach students how to access, process, and share information from many and varied sources. Bookshelves can’t do that, Stewart.

The library without a librarian is neither curated nor fully resourced. It is just a room.

I am very bad at relaxing, but tonight I got all cozy on the couch and knitted while watching the women’s biathlon relay until my eyes got crispy AND THEN I FELL ASLEEP ON MY COUCH. France wins, Christie wins, everyone wins. πŸ’€

Maybe collage it into a cast, if you’re going to go this route

As a young science teacher, I leaned toward Bill Nye and Magic School Bus.
Later, I liked the part of β€œteaching animation” where I got to watch the Oscar-nom short animated films and Into the Spider-Verse with my students.

Dead Poets Society.
Glory (in the theater as a field trip).
Top Gun at the end of 5th grade bc β€œmovie day!” but the teacher forgot we were too young for PG movies, so she had to go around and whisper to each of us, β€œwould your parents be okay with you seeing this?”

They are battle instruments, are they not?
(Spring 1995 I awoke at 7AM to the sound of MANY pipers warming up outside Dayton Hall and on Shaw Field, because it was the day of the Scottish Country Fair. 4pm I escaped to boyfriend’s mom’s house in the north metro with the skirling still in my ears. 🫠)

Fighting Apostles is also kind of funny. Also, how VERY MINNESOTAN that there is a traveling hockey trophy for law students.

In February you shovel. In March it’s fair to calculate the odds. In April and May, that is ignorable snow unless it’s too deep not to wear boots. My two cents.
(So grateful to the plow guys in my city.)

Only if you have four to eight fucking hours to spend waiting IN PERSON at the Social Security office (assuming you have one that’s locally convenient) and a lot of damn documents to prove your identity. Otherwise no.
