Influential figures across the right have decided to use Charlie Kirk’s death to promote their fantasies of war and retribution against Democrats and leftists.

You mean like the respect Kirk showed to Transgender people when he advocated their stoning? Or when TPUSA was caught on video calling African Americans monkeys? Or when Kirk argued that men should have veto power over women's reproductive decisions?

Indeed. Trump will exploit and weaponize this assassination to incite even greater violence against his perceived enemies.

Huh? I have a moral and professional duty to avoid any demand that my students accede to my view... of anything. But in my office outside my classroom I retain these rights. I did not give up my 1A rights to be a professor. As for my published work? THAT is all my own.

It's clear to the rest of us, the majority, that our lives don't matter to Trump or institutions of power in this country.

Just look at how everyone, including the Yankees and former Presidents, come out to condemn Kirk's murder and offer sympathies as this country unleashes ICE on brown people.

Political violence is abhorrent. I have not celebrated Kirk's death.

But Newsom calling for his followers to "continue Charlie Kirk's work," someone who praised stoning gay people as "god's perfect law," who called for men to "take care of" trans people like they did in the 50s and 60s, is not it.

Let's be clear: Kirk may have pretended to celebrate free speech and debate. But he demonized teachers and professors who dared to defend the rights of women, trans persons, and non white citizens. His bigoted rhetoric incited violence. He may now be a MAGA martyr. But he's no hero of democracy.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

It's one thing to lament loss of life and decry political violence, but this revisionism is shockingly dishonest and downright offensive to the millions of people Kirk targeted and upon whom he inflicted pain and misery. The man was a liar and a bigot who gladly hurt others to advance himself.

Yup. I'm out here. Still in a classroom.

Before knowing all the facts, voices on the right are now exploiting the tragic death of Charlie Kirk & calling for all-out war on the left. This is sad, but not surprising, at a time when we should all be denouncing political violence. They were not so upset when Minn. Democrats were assassinated.

Charlie Kirk was a horrible bigot who spewed dangerous conspiracy theories and misled many young people. He marched for Trump’s authoritarian agenda. None of this justifies violence or murder. Political violence only escalates and makes us less safe.

Sadly, we dont have a leader but an arsonist.

It would be irresponsible not to assume that the amount of violence the president, intentionally or not, will be prone to urging his most unstable followers to embark on...in retaliation for the assassination of Charlie Kirk...is something every U.S. citizen should hold in their mind as high risk.

Media please shut the fuck up about deterioration of civil political debate. We have a massive lying and gaslighting problem that begins at the White House and ends with Kirk. That's what's making people desperate.
