This would be a total gamechanger! Yesterday, I took the call for a Mayoral visitor levy directly to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves.

Our work with York St John University has found that we could raise over £52m a year with a £2 charge on overnight stays in York and North Yorkshire.

It was an honour to lay a wreath in Harrogate this morning, remembering the sacrifice of all those in York and North Yorkshire who gave their lives to protect our freedoms.

Yesterday I joined leaders from across Yorkshire to meet with the Chair of Yorkshire Water and raise our concerns about performance, transparency and recent reports about executive pay.

This week I launched a Community Wealth Building Commission, bringing together experts and practitioners, to create a plan to build fairer local economies in York and North Yorkshire with workers and communities at their heart.

At a time when Yorkshire Water customers are facing a 41% increase in bills alongside environmental failures and customer service shortcomings, the news that the Chief Executive has received additional payments is wholly unacceptable.

As Yorkshire mayors, we have requested an urgent meeting.

We are deeply disappointed that universities in the North of England, some of the best and brightest in the world, have once again been overlooked in the allocation of national innovation funding, despite their research credentials.

Great to welcome Heidi Alexander to York to mark the electrification of the TransPennine Route between York and Church Fenton completing. I joined her as she visited York Central to see the scale of ambition we have for our city.

Today I attended the Bus Manufacturing Roundtable, hosted by Heidi Alexander & Simon Lightwood, who are both pressing to expedite new bus orders & back British manufacturing at bus builders like Alexander Dennis in Eastfield, Scarborough.

Improving men’s mental health is deeply personal to me, this morning I talked to BBC Radio York about my experiences and why my Men’s Mental Health Fund is so important to help more men across York and North Yorkshire get the help and support they need and deserve.

Really proud today to get two funds approved that are incredibly close to my heart. These funds will have a proper launch in the Autumn, but it’s great to finally confirm this work today!

Today marks a new era for affordable housing in our region. The Affordable Homes Standards establishes for the first time in York and North Yorkshire a benchmark for what affordable housing should look like. 🏡

A busy week championing investment, growth, and community in York and North Yorkshire at UKREiiF, the Mayoral Council and Council of Nations and Regions.

York and North Yorkshire is open for business, and this week I took that message to the UK's largest housing and infrastructure conference.

Today on VE Day, we remember the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for peace and freedom.

It marked the end of war in Europe, and the start of communities rebuilding with hope.

It’s an incredible honour to represent our region at the National Service of Thanksgiving in Westminster Abbey.

One year as Mayor of York and North Yorkshire - it's been a whirlwind. I'm so grateful and proud to have had the opportunity to meet people right across our beautiful region and be the first mayor to give York and North Yorkshire a voice on the national stage.
