Totally agree!! While important lessons early on can be learned from imitating others styles, I feel like things really take off when you can recognize what you do well, and hone that while also building capacity in things you want to do better.

I'm not super familiar with the world, so I'm at a loss for providing specific examples of what other sources of conflict and the changing of power within the great houses might look like. I think there is some interesting narrative ideas that could come from a discussion

I guess...were I in your position I would ask for a replacement from the group. Dune is a dystopic world that has incredibly shitty things happen to people. If one does not want to engage with certain spaces within the narrative (as is reasonable) then in this case what systems can adjudicate

hmm... that is tricky as that is an underpinning of the world. Problematic yes, but within the world different from genocide. from the wiki, it's a war of attrition, not extermination. That may be ethically a negligible difference, but I would think a good basis for the start of conversation?

If it wasn't mentioned in the lines and veils convo - then I would start there. Why is this coming up now, what is the source of the issue, does topic need to be banned or alluded to? Standard safety tools, but the hope is the open discussion makes space for you to discern if its a performance.

Squicky people on the internet are at it again about the alleged old days of teen and tween brides, so this is my cue to bring out the graph showing that the median age for first marriage in the US has never been below 20 for the woman from 1890 to the present.

Really wish I had more people to play TTRPGs with. Trying to find a group of queer folx in their 30s-40s who want to play a fun loving creative style of gameplay. I really love running games for people who also run games and love the craft.

My job is managing a non-profit that does D&D for kids. Our weekly staff meeting are largely recaps of everyone's games. It is a good exercise for people to learn how to relay the table experiences to us every week.

Confederates were never held accountable so their descendants have been demonizing Black people to justify their ancestors actions ever since. You have to hold people accountable in the moment
