"why do you have so many ttrpg books"
Well, I was born with a condition that prevents my body from producing its own ttrpg book so I have to outsource to maintain proper balance.

These are all helpful thoughts! Thank you I'll check out the Savage Worlds for Eberron!

04.02.2026 23:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For sure my setting crunch idea is still in early stages. I think what I'm trying to get at is to flesh out the worldbuilding structures of magic. Rather than focus on the stat crunch. I agree with you that Eberron is held back by the system, so I thought, approach it from the other direction.
04.02.2026 23:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0genius on the reactivation fees!
Could also go for software updates that download at variable speeds depending on the tier of subscription
You've really driven my brain with this prompt - so thank you!
Another wrinkle could be the need to constantly have the latest cyberware. Subscriptions only work on past three years of models (or whatever punishing timeline works best).
really build on that and see how much magic one can pump into a setting. I've already told my players that all cantrips and most lower level utility spells are built into items. A closet that uses transmutation to clean your clothes., etc.
04.02.2026 21:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0there. While part of this discussion can lead to looking at the top tier - power creep sort of magic. I'm actually more curious to find where all the boundaries are so that I can build more in the middle space between dragon magic and 5e spells lists. Eberron is a high magic setting, I want to 3/
04.02.2026 21:30 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm running an Eberron game right now, in Argonessen. Dragon society has crazy levels of magic, PCs have standard 5e spells. There's such a huge gap between those ideas that's it's got me thinking more and more about these setting or narrative boundaries to magic. What are they, and why are they 2/
04.02.2026 21:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Been thinking of magic systems, and how they are built from a systems crunch space. X level spell does these things. I was wondering what approaching it from a setting crunch would look like?
What does the ceiling of power look like, what can and can't be done with magic from a setting perspective?1
OMG YES!
Also a new avenue of hacking. Hack cyberware to a lower tier subscription or make it seem to be from a different corporation.
With the joy of Tiered subscriptions and constant price changes. Normal vision at the basic lvl, infrared at the hunter lvl, UV at the top tier predator lvl.
Also have corporate blackout zones, where your gear doesn't work in a competitor's zone of influence.

I'm so happy, proud and continually reminding myself that this is because I've learned to love myself and this is what that love can look like.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said โBring me your clothingโ.
Screenshot: serialephemera Thematically speaking, the most important thing Terry Pratchett taught me was the concept of militant decency. The idea that you can look at the world and its flaws and its injustices and its cruelties and get deeply, intensely angry, and that you can turn that into energy for doing the right thing and making the world a better place. He taught me that the anger itself is not the part! should be fighting. Nobody in my life ever said that before.
This is a good lesson, no matter how you come to learn it

A really cool piece that compares the US to average OECD nation to show what we could have as citizens if we slightly tried.
And to you as well!

I'd love to play some great indie TTRPGs, maybe get to do an AP. So thankful for all the people on here that I follow that help me feel connected to the community.

After years of illness I'm finally starting to feel a little better. Been able to run two different D&D games this year which is such a blessing. I missed so dearly the creative outlet and then chance to do my preferred art.

In response to a ruling from a federal judge in Rhode Island, the Institute of Museum and Library Services reinstated all previously canceled grants in every state and territory. It's a huge win for libraries and our communities.
"The reinstatement of all IMLS grants means that libraries across the country will be able to resume vital services for learning, imagination, and economic opportunity. We are breathing a sigh of relief, but the fight is not over." ALA President Sam Helmick. Show up for our libraries, American Library Association.

This Day in Labor History: November 30, 1999. The WTO protests begin in Seattle. Carefully constructed coalitions between labor, environmentalists, and other activists were blown up by anarchists who hijacked the protests for their own purposes, leading to a violent response from the Seattle cops!!!
