It's just Groundhog Day at this point....

I love that they can check if a player is 1mm offside 40 seconds before a goal with zero impact on the play... but for an obvious embellishment drawing a phantom call... "Oh no, our hands are tied..."

Their first-rounder goes to Boston (ugh) but is top 5 protected.

The NHL is the lamest league. My god. Taking away a player's first NHL goal because a player uninvolved in the play was 1 cm offside...

I posted this a couple weeks ago... It (unfortunately) feels even more accurate today.

Is this the weakest goaltending situation the Habs have had since the Roy trade? Always seems they were able to find a workable option even in the grimmest of seasons (Moog, Hackett, Theodore, Huet, Halak, etc.) before the rise of Price provided stability in the crease for essentially 10 years.

Agreed. It is truly disheartening to see our government pouring so much money into an industry already filled to the brim with private equity (and about to burst!), instead of investing in programs to serve its citizens.

Look I'm no baseball expert... but with a 1-run lead in the bottom of the 7th, nobody on base and 1 out, and Shohei Ohtani at the plate... I don't think this is the pitch you want to throw. #Jays #WorldSeries

Obituary: Ken Dryden was a towering figure in the crease and a principled gentleman off the ice The Canadiens legend was a rare athlete who could write about the game as beautifully as he played it.

The Death of the Student Essayβ€”and the Future of Cognition One professor's reflections on the end of an era, as AI tools such as ChatGPT have murdered the student essay (RIP). Here's why that threatens the future of human cognitionβ€”and how to save ourselves.

An excellent (but depressing) read

Sorry to rant... But I hate how gambling has completely consumed sports media... Podcasts have full segments about betting odds, every second TV commercial is about betting, the biggest stars of the game plastered in print ads. It's honestly sickening. Gambling ruins lives... Yuck.

This "writer" also doesn't take into account the consequences of firing a coach the current team probably really likes. Even in this fever dream scenario where he's trying to hire Sullivan to attract Crosbyβ€”How do Suzuki, Caufield, Gallagher, etc. all react to that move? Probably not well...

It's very frustrating. But come to think of, maybe I'd actually rather they just let the play flow for the rest of the game than give the Habs a powerplay where every chance can just die on Laine's stick...

Canadian theatre can be such an unserious business at times. As a speech therapist, it is part of my professional code of conduct that if I engage in a sexual relationship with a client within a year of working with them professionally, it is considered sexual assault.

Games 5, 6, and 7 of that series remain the most outrageous performance by a goalie I've ever seen. It was magical. One would think they'd need something similar this year...
