Interested in too many things, especially TTRPG (Traveller, Cthulhu, WFRP, ...) and board games. Southerner living in Yorkshire

03.02.2026 11:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Happy birthday! I can see the same milestone lumbering towards me. Been involved in TTRPGs for a similar time too. My hope is to spend more time playing them in the future. I wish the same for you!
23.01.2026 16:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think you mean *demagogue*
27.12.2025 08:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I agree. I've been thinking for some time that touch screens in cars are not safe - you have to look at where you are pressing so need to take your eyes off the road. IMO a better option is the approach (used in aircraft) of multi function (real) buttons around the screen.
27.12.2025 08:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How much has it paid out in profits in that time?
17.11.2025 11:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agree. Robots need the ability to do things quickly.
Lower power AIs are possible - and LLMs are not needed in every case. Smaller AI models for physical interactions could be implemented in lower end computers.
I expect that we'll see plenty of demand to provide some form of on board robot ai.
Based on the videos I've seen, so far, they aren't capable of very much in the way of useful skills yet. But that's partly down to what the AI is capable of - which evolves quickly
08.11.2025 10:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Chinese companies already sell humanoid robots for way less (e.g. Unitree robots can be bought in the UK for <20k) - although they probably aren't *yet* capable of doing a housekeepers job).
Also, why would they only do 40 hours work? They could get close to 24/7 - closer to four housekeepers.
But it's actually chewsday

Oldest active theatre (definitely not an amphitheatre the guide says) I've ever been to - 2nd Century!
29.08.2025 20:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I would love to see the results of a few rounds of De Profundis. I wonder if anyone has ever put them online?
24.08.2025 12:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of my favourite CoC supplements. Works really well with players in the UK. It's a shame the article on speaking Barsetshire (bumpkin) didn't make it in. It did appear in an episode of white dwarf though.
24.08.2025 11:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've got this - fascinating read, never tried it out. It looks like it could get really intense, and possibly quite personal.

03.08.2025 16:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also live in Yorkshire. Last week I had to explain the concept of a hosepipe ban to a work colleague from Arizona - he's able to use a sprinkler on his lawn right now.
Yorkshire Water brings to mind the old saying about breweries and piss-ups. Not sure why the CEO deserves the big bucks.

It's great as a potential sandbox setting, but there's a lot of footwork to do (sadly, the original game doesn't give much help in this area). It's been a while since I looked at the system, but that might also need some help. Beginning to sound like Trigger's Broom
13.07.2025 14:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The firepower pcs have gives them a great advantage - until it runs out, or they run into other Morrow Project teams (or even competitive teams). Do they act as power brokers for local tribes? Or do they set themselves up as the future kings of Dorking (or wherever)
13.07.2025 14:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0* local exploration. When you went into deep freeze, you were in the middle of a civilised bit of the world. When you come, everything's different: geography, local inhabitants, technology, ...
13.07.2025 14:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Random thoughts about game directions:
* Resource management. Standard equipment for PC teams is an impressive arsenal with an APC and a large number of rounds of ammunition - but not unlimited. Once all of the rounds of the latest firearms have been shot off, you are left with inefficient clubs
There's a book about it: "Attack Warning Red - How Britain prepared for nuclear war" by Julie McDowell. Mild Spoiler: don't count on a coordinated government response
13.07.2025 11:44 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Exactly. Set up by a benevolent millionaire, the idea was that cryogenically frozen teams would be activated shortly after the inevitable nuclear apocalypse. Problem was something went wrong and pcs get activated hundreds of years later

13.07.2025 08:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A secondary concern for a UK-based gamer is: do I run it in the US setting, or translate it to the UK. If so, how many teams are likely to be needed across the whole of the UK?
13.07.2025 08:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Has anybody run The Morrow Project? It's got a great premise, and it's sat in my collection for years, but I really struggle to understand what the characters will actually *do* (1/2)
