Ordered two things from Amazon. They were reported delivered but never were. I went through the complicated process of reporting them missing and then dealing with the AI chatbot to get replacements. Now I’m getting emails saying I will be charged for not returning the originals.

Agreed. We would not have put an offer on the place had we known it was basically a nightmare to sell it.

Yeah. Basically the property had to be purchased in out right cash or through weird lenders because there were ownership issues with the complex that made it undesirable for banks… something which the seller never mentioned.

As escrow fell through we renewed our lease and bought a new bed and mattress. So today was cleaning our apartment, taking apart our old bed, and assembling our new bed. Next weekend will be a new couch, a new desk (for the husband), and a new office chair (for me).

It was a great result for our client and a reminder that being a discovery bulldog can have big payoffs. (P.S. Plaintiff side attorneys, don’t forget to thoroughly vet your clients, because defense counsel sure as hell will.)

After multiple informal discovery conferences where I made it clear that the only pedophile here was plaintiff- Plaintiff’s Counsel asked us to agree to a dismissal of all claims with prejudice in exchange for us not pursuing plaintiff and his counsel for costs, fees, and sanctions.

I immediately plunged into discovery and, despite plaintiff denying any felonies, we learned the plaintiff had a conviction for child sexual abuse. I started hammering the plaintiff with discovery focusing on the lack of any witnesses, documentation, or treatment for emotional distress.

A little over a year ago I was brought on to a case involving an alleged sexual assault that occurred in 1984. There were no records, the alleged perpetrator was unidentified, and there was no one left alive who had worked there on the management team in the 1980s.

This has been a not great week and because of chaos I haven’t done much for Halloween yet- but got to dress up as a shark for my networking meeting this morning. Get it? Lawyer = 🦈

Finally got to try Mapo Tofu! And the bok choy dumplings were super yummy.

The Taiwanese beer went great with the popcorn chicken.

The Belasco had some amazing wood and tile work.

On Friday we went into DTLA and got dinner at Pine & Crane (a Taiwanese street food joint) before catching both Autechre sets at the Belasco. Great food, amazing music, and we didn’t get home until well after midnight.

That looks amazing!

Watched The Substance and the good news is I’m just too vain to ever want to share my life with another me.

I may be doing a trial in Michigan in November. I’d like to point out that I froze in the mornings in Sacramento during my January trial because I would walk to Court in flip flops (change to heels after security) and had no jacket that fit over my suit.
