I don't have much to say about the madness of the Paramount/Skydance merger except that I'm not expecting a lot of great things to come out of this since it's a merger and just seeing what happens with Hollywood studios after mergers has made me numb. It'll be something.

As how unrealizable the 4K direct disc playback goes, ripping is not the worst thing after all. Less to no freezing and can directly play as a file. The thing you can to worry is to prepare your hard drives and the media players.

It's not just the studios, it also the filmmakers who DOES do revisionists (like Cameron, Lucas, Fincher, Jackson) as they utilize worse than the DNR usage. This is the same thing with the audio mixes as near-fielded instead of far-fielded is NOT the way to listen to their media.
