My painting is a take on the famous 'A Sunday on La Grande Jatte' painting by Georges Seurat. In the original painting, people are enjoying a nice day in the park. My reimagined painting includes a fiery sky, polluted water, and suffering people. These are all effects of climate change that have begun to occur. My painting also shows a wealthy person, who has the luxury of ignoring the problems. I believe this will all worsen if something isn't done to reverse this tragedy.

HB 2134 is gathering crappy Republican amendments! That's a good sign. It suggests the bill is moving towards a vote and is likely to pass. (Assume the word "crappy" modifies whichever noun you prefer.)

So the only way to have an ambiguous 4-term sequence like this is:

* Omit the second term of a geometric sequence with r = -1/2
* Omit the third term of a geometric sequence with r = -2
* Omit any term of a constant sequence (sorry)

We know r=1 is a solution, so dividing through by (r-1) should yield the other two:

2r^2 = r + 1

which has solutions r = 1 (again!?) and r = -1/2 (there we go!)

Assuming without loss of generality that it's the second position (reversing the sequence if necessary) and the first term is 1 (by rescaling), we have

1, ??, r^2, r^3

and to also fit an arithmetic sequence that means

2(r^3 - r^2) = (r^2 - 1)

This also means the terms of the geometric sequence must alternate in sign, so the two sequences can't overlap for three consecutive terms and the blank spot *must* be in the 2nd or 3rd position.

First observation: a line y=mx+b and an exponential y = ar^x with r>0 can't cross more than twice (unless a=0 or r=1), so the base of the exponential must be *negative*, as in your two examples.
