50 years riding bikes and racing occasionally… so I’m fairly experienced and then one driver and I’m in an ambulance and bike snapped

@glasgowcc.bsky.social has embarked on the avenues project to build a substantial network of #cycling and pedestrian infrastructure to transform the city from car centric to more #activetravel centric. It’s a slow process but worth reading

But you reverted back to peak fares making it unaffordable for most travellers. Glasgow - Edinburgh £31 to get to work I don’t get subsidised to travel to work like MSPs

I’d hoped the Scottish govt would have reintroduced the all day off peak train fares which they removed in September making the train so expensive that most people I know reverted back to driving the M8 again. I simply go into the office less now. @thesnp.bsky.social #publictransport

I worked with a guy who lived/worked in Bangalore. The company we both worked for (me in London, him in Bangalore) moved offices. The move meant his commute to cross the city would take 4 hours each way due to the traffic. He changed jobs to an office in same location as the one he was leaving

#Glasgow removed most of their cameras city wide so now drivers simply ignore most signage and rules. If the city needs to raise funds i can point out at least 5 spots that they could fund the city for generations from driver infractions @glasgowgreens.bsky.social

Unfortunately if you take a non folding bikes it becomes almost impossible to take the Eurostar due to their rules of carriage

#Glasgow is slowly building #cycling infrastructure. It feels like it’s at a glacial speed but seems to be gathering pace. Some of the original stuff was terrible but the new stuff is starting to feel like they’re getting it mostly right

It’s like the elephant in the room. Glasgow needs support from the surrounding areas and the Scot govt. Glasgow has been neutered by every colour of govt and each seems unwilling to help the city. Shortsightedness, fear of Glasgow, indifference? I honestly can’t understand the city’s treatment

Better still every driving test should require a day cycling in traffic. It would change a lot of behaviour.

Oh and it’s usually windy 15-25kmh on average

In Scotland 1-5c and damp air or rain is pretty much our default winter cycling weather. Summer of course brings 14-18c and damp or rain as our default. We suffer so that others don’t have too 😂

that guy is a fanny or he’s a bit of a fanny, meaning he’s harmless but annoying and does stupid things
