It’s clear these people don’t care about viable solutions. They just want to feel morally superior.

They’re not going to be firebombing any refineries.

lol yeah maybe. I mean I just think this looks like writing down a bunch of “epiphanies” while high.

I’m wondering whether he knew what it was, or just thought it sounded cool.

Also, biology is NP-complete? Not sure what that means, but I suspect biology is less tractable than that.

The impulse to reject all segmentation of the world because some segmentation is harmful is harmful.

I just think we can accept that human sexuality is complicated and difficult to delineate, while also accepting that cladistics (also complicated and hard to delineate) is constructed on pretty solid ground.

Same. I thought that specific good joke was coming, and then it was not the good joke.

Does anyone pay for this? For me there’s been a perfect correlation between having a more comfortable seat and being in an early boarding group. In that case I’m happy to board ASAP because my seat on the plane is comfier than my seat off the plane.

The right doesn’t have a Nazi problem. The right is a Nazi problem.

(The far left, such as it is, has a Nazi problem.)

Giuffre’s brother is calling it a victory, at least. Pretty sorry victory. But I bet the former prince is rather bummed out about it, so that’s something.

Yeah, Israel has lost my septuagenarian Jewish mom as well. I just had to show her some things they were doing.

This and his Israel/Palestine column make the rest of his bullshit worthwhile IMO, because the bullshit seems to be load bearing in making him someone Dem elites will listen to.

I mean no, but the USA circa 2025 is a better example for your case.

Still waiting to hear what would work better.

Yes. This is very basic. Pretty clear by now that fascists will use democratic means to subvert democracy, until they have the power to do things in the way that they prefer.

Still waiting to hear about the alternative.

Don’t see how that’s abandoning liberalism. Liberalism doesn’t mean you don’t hit back. The whole point is that if you get liberals angry enough, we will fight to defend it.

Anyway, still waiting to hear the alternative.

The skeet you were responding to was about how liberals ended the war, not about the things that came before. That’s why your response is absurd.

31.10.2025 07:25 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Anyway, I think anyone who wants to argue against liberal democracy is obligated to propose an alternative and explain why it would work better. Your favored political system cannot end history.

31.10.2025 07:24 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

And no, having a liberal constitution but no deep democratic culture or norms does not a liberal democracy make.

31.10.2025 07:24 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

No, my claim is that the means were not democratic. Using violence to consolidate power, even if you won an election, is not democratic. And the violence is necessary because what you plan to do isn’t what people voted for.

31.10.2025 07:24 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

And even were that the case, the Allies were never going to defeat the Empire of Japan and the Third Reich through political argument.

31.10.2025 07:16 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Wait are you claiming that Taishō Japan and Weimar Germany were liberal democracies, and that the fascists took over through democratic means? Like really, that’s your claim?

31.10.2025 07:11 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

omg lol no

31.10.2025 07:07 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

Uhhhh do you know which “political argument” they’re talking about? Because “political argument” is a weird way to describe a genocidal war of conquest (started by fascists).

This country would be a total shithole without immigrants, and the more immigrants it gets, the less of a shithole it is. Don’t get why you’re so afraid of an unambiguously good thing.
