Green Day Condemns ICE as Part of Super Bowl Festivities The band’s frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, urged Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to quit their jobs, warning that the Trump administration would inevitably abandon them.

Green Day performed on Sunday ahead of Super Bowl LX. Two days before the performance, during another Super Bowl weekend event, the band’s frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, called on ICE agents to quit their jobs.

The meeting of abundance theory and socialism is productivity driven deflation

2nd place goes to the one with the most unpaid medical bills.

Abundance without socialism = more extreme wealth inequality. If abundance bros aren’t advocating for a UBI or productivity-driven deflation, it’s just bullshit.

β€œI have to tell you. Sen. Obama is a decent person and a person you don’t have to be scared of as president of the United States,” McCain told a supporter at a town hall meeting in Minnesota. He was booed.

Do you really believe that McCain was the same ilk as Dumpster?

08.02.2026 19:55 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Because McCain was wonderful relative to MAGA today. Thats how bad it has become.

08.02.2026 19:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Sadly thats about all we’ve got in the last 20 years. Its a low fucking bar, to be sure

08.02.2026 19:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Huh? Where did you get that in anything that I said?

08.02.2026 19:38 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m sure he was compared to you. I didn’t like his politics, either.

But I can still recognize that most of MAGA saw him as a woke liberal. And he had to courage to tell those evil folks when they were making up racist bullshit. That’s at least something.

08.02.2026 19:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s also interesting in context of immigration - McCain tried forever to push forward an immigration compromise to provide a path to citizenship.

Ive never supported McCain supporter and I voted for Obama. But he is basically the best version of the Republican party we’ve seen in the last 20 years

08.02.2026 19:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s an extreme interpretation of what McCain did. All he did was correct the women’s lies. You can reasonably say he could/should have done more to defend pluralism. But McCain’s civility and commitment to a better political discourse here is vastly superior to anything we see in MAGA today

Is Honors by definition relative to classmates, not a reflection of nominal performance? (Asking in ignorance)

If you fix grade inflation you'll just create grade unemployment, according to the Phillips grade curve.

Well said Hess. And unsurprisingly, his words were totally mischaracterized by Dumpster

But if we had had a fixed money supply, productivity growth would have driven 2% deflation each year for the last 30 years, without impacting labor. This would have been delightful!

Our current 2% inflation mandate is shifting productivity gains from market prices to the 1%

08.02.2026 16:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Agree, if price declines lead to unemployment demand declines would follow.

Haven’t heard the comments, but this is a good reason for the left to remain patriotic, like Baldwin.

In Rorty’s words: β€œNational pride is to countries what self respect is to individuals: a necessary condition for self-improvement.”

This is our country and that evil dumpster is pilfering it.

Oh. Right. Like the time he called someone the N word in the Apprentice. Apparently each time is out of context.

Pathetic

But I would be even more happy with a UBI! Because that would imply direct social consent/support for the wealth transfers, instead of using monetary policy which is confusing even for the best economists

There also many historical period where macroeconomic deflation has correlated with demand growth and higher real wages

Respectfully, I disagree, if deflation is caused by productivity gains (not a demand decline).

The key incorrect assumption that I think you’re making is that deflation creates a drop in demand. Our modern experience with structurally deflationary goods (like TVs) suggests the exact opposite

08.02.2026 14:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Our current monetary system (2% inflation target) is designed to make this β€œabundance dream” impossible. Even worse, because of mandated inflation, capital-driven productivity gains accelerate wealth inequality.

Something has to give

Sam Altman Says AI Will Cause Massive Deflation, Making Money Worth Vastly More When asked if AI can be used to "solve economic gaps," OpenAI CEO Sam Altman argued that it's "going to be massively deflationary."

If abundance bros are serious, they should aggressively support one of:

1. Universal Basic Income
2. Higher interest rates and productivity-driven deflation;
3. Some other major wealth transfer from assets to labor

Until they do, it would be foolish to take this messaging seriously
