Wait huh? You mean we donโ€™t have the jurisdiction to tax companies in China?

At what point when youโ€™re paying troops with your own private money do they not just become mercenaries

Democracy brought us this mess, it seems. We no longer live in a functioning constitutional republic.

Hard to know without the control/counter-factual.

We do see technology driving deflation in tons of products. But oddly not in the aggregate

Its funny because the comment itself was taken out if context. But the core truth couldnt be more perfectly within context.

Agree itโ€™s not low, itโ€™s just average. (2.67% avg over last 30y).

To me there are two interesting questions:
1. What does it mean that inflation is still this high given recent productivity gains of technology?
2. Do we really want 2% to 3% inflation? I see improving arguments for light deflation

Trump can do anything he wants unless Congress stops him now or voters stop him in 3 years. Iโ€™m sorry but itโ€™s that simple.

Im not sure I trust the numbers, and I hate the political bullshit, but 3% YOY inflation is not that hot according to recent history or the orthodoxy.

Iโ€™d love so see moderate deflation, and I think so would most voters, but this report will do little to delay a FMOC rate cut, so says the market

This is below expectations and not that significant. There is a good discussion to be had in whether we should be targeting deflation, or why we havenโ€™t seen more inflation, but this inflation falls within the orthodoxy of acceptable

Pritzker on Fox: "He's challenging the integrity of the next election by sending troops into our cities. It isn't about fighting crime. He said he's going after the worst of the worst. That's not what they're doing. They are literally after black and brown people because of the color of their skin."

This is designed to incite and distract. Yes itโ€™s obnoxious and disrespectful. But Dumpster wants us to focus on this instead of something elseโ€ฆ

This makes perfect sense in aggregate. But if the profits of productivity gains are concentrated, then isnโ€™t the argument stronger that average Americans benefit more from deflation?

(I noticed your caveat here in the article; just curious what happens if we flip the starting point of analysis).

๐ŸšจBREAKING: The State of Arizona filed a lawsuit accusing House Speaker Mike Johnson of violating the Constitution by refusing to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva. The plaintiffs argue that Johnsonโ€™s delay has deprived hundreds of thousands of Arizonans of representation.

Notice how itโ€™s always, โ€œthe Bible must inform our laws!โ€ until it comes to the +2,000 verses in the Bible that discuss the generous use of wealth and possessions in a way that prioritizes the needs of the poor, this sick, the stranger, the vulnerable, and the oppressed.

Itโ€™s bizarre how people think โ€œdeflationโ€ means something more than โ€œfalling prices.โ€ As if it is carrying a disease.

22.10.2025 13:02 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Deflation is not nearly as bad as they would have you believe. It all depends on what causes it (demand or supply).

Supply-side deflation, driven by technology and productivity gains, is wayyy better than higher profit capture by the 1%

22.10.2025 12:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I donโ€™t think stopping deflation is the key goal. To rebalance, they need to boost domestic consumption. Deflation might help that if nominal wages stay flat.

For sure itโ€™s on the same march.

But why do voters on right care more about this value signaling and cultural alignment with unempathy (or anti-wokeness) than their own economic self interests?

But the image is certainly poetic

I wonder if that political awakening will one day lead to a rethink of the FOMC inflation target. In the short term, there is massive policy discord:

Voters want deflation
Trump wants inflation (way lower rates)
Trump tells voters he fights for deflation
Policy wonks tell voters deflation is bad
