It's a little reminiscent of Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer video - but with the tempo increased like 4x. So I assume that video only required 2 lines of cocaine, and the speedup is relatively proportional. 🤔

I think i got it for christmas the year it came out. I played it a bit, but never actually got all that far. Not sure if the original had controller support or not... this version "Classic and Uncut" on GOG does, and plays pretty good with a controller as long as you turn off mouse aiming.

I'm not going to lie, it feels wrong to enjoy Postal. I mean it is absolutely just pointless gore for the sake of it... even if it is low-res. The more i play through it, the more i realize how absolutely wrong it was for me to own this as a kid. 🫠

My alternate mt-32 with label instructions. This one needed a switch installed and a trace cut for some reason I forget to make it work like a mt-32. Think I found the instructions on vogons. 🤷‍♂️

Also the only sierra game i think i actually played and got into was King's Quest 6 which was after that era I think.

Reminds me, not a sierra game... but i'd like to try playing The Dig again, that one i actually played as a kid and remember semi-fondly.

I think our first family pc was a 386, and quickly moved on to a 486. Some of the first big games for me were Tie Fighter (although i did play x-wing just wasn't as enthralled by it), and duke 3d. Anything before that, i'm just out of my element. 😅

I have to be honest, as much as I randomly got into collecting midi gear, and made sure to get an mt-32, most of the games that use it are before a time that appeals to me. Like i'd only play them FOR the music probably. 🫠

There is a weird combo for putting an sc-88 into some pseudo mt-32 mode too i think, used to have a sticky note stuck to the top of it for that. It was something bizarre too. Like wtf was roland doing with these things?

Reminds me of whatever alternate one i have that is huge (i'll have to grab a picture later), it takes midi in by default, but you have to do a really weird button combo to put it in mt-32 mode. I printed a label with instructions and stuck it on there because there was no way i'd remember. 😅

I think it's only unpopular because the console itself was virtually unheard of in North America. I didn't hear about it until seeing an AVGN video about it years ago, and I only know of one other person in real life that even knows what it is.

I want to like my TG16, but its just so damn large compared to my coregrafx. I mean i get it, bit american console for our big american wangs... but the fact that they had to even go with a bigger controller connector, like wtf was that about?

LOL i got one of those recently, included with one of my old boards. Wasn't even mentioned in the listing. I dunno if they just forgot about it, or just had a bunch of them lying around and threw it in, or what.

Just noticed for the first time that the aggressive borg kid in "Collective" seems to be the same species as the people who existed on the planet out of sync with standard time from "Blink of an Eye" (4 episodes earlier) - the people that couldn't exist in normal time yet.

Well, that's a wrap on that episode. Even though i'm pretty sure i owned the holofoil box atomic edition version, i don't think i ever made it past the first few levels... I mostly got it for more assets to make levels with.

It's actually a pretty solid set of levels though.

In comparison to blood which i replayed the first episode of recently, Duke 3d is a lot more enjoyable. Then again, it always was my favorite. I spent more time building levels for it than playing it back in the day though.

Yeah, i agree with that second part especially. I mean I knew a LOT about the movie from various things that have referenced it even though i didn't see it until i was like 35.

That... is a weird line to draw. Especially as time went on and the simpsons got less dark/edgy and more "common dumb sitcom family".

Whereas ren & stimpy... i always thought was too gross, even more so as an adult.

I think it gets called overrated mostly because fans are just a little... too in to it, and defensive of any criticisms about it.

I think regardless of individual thoughts on it though, it's hard to deny its cultural impact on helping to break the JRPG barrier in the west. 🤷‍♂️

I do think everyone should give this movie a shot just for cultural reference. I have to say though, both my Wife and I watched this one a few years back for the first time, and neither one of us liked it. It's up there for one of the most boring movies i've ever seen (and i kind of like ST:TMP). 😅

I still have a few ebay searches that notify me from time to time... but I've mostly stopped at this point.

A. Half of the ones i have aren't hooked up
B. Prices have gone way up on a lot of it, even compared to a couple years ago. No, your ST-88 is NOT worth $350+
