A more detailed shot of the grey pebble-like lichen reveals that the larger β€œpebbles” have little holes. There is a pretty golden lichen growing too with a similar texture

The thing about AI and this mindset that it allows those who β€œcan’t draw” to draw is that is a lie. I taught college level courses on drawing and met multiple students who grew leaps and bounds in their drawing skill sets because they wanted to and took the time to try

Everyone can learn to draw

reading again and listening to audiobooks has been such a joy. i’m trying to stick with nonfiction for audiobooks and fiction for my physical books, and it’s been a nice divide of my attention

big time enjoying the audiobook read by the author - i had no idea it was going to be so fungal, but it’s so perfect after the last 4 books i listened to

okay here are all the fungi books i’ve currently read, in order. i actually kind of recommend this order, too, if you’re new to fungi books or fungi at all like i am. i also *just* started Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard last night - which i didn’t know was gonna be so mycological!

A tree - possibly an ent - with legs, arms and an unusually large bellybutton.

Had to clamber over a barbed wire fence, rip my coat and trespass to get a photo of this folkloric monster pretending half-successfully to be a tree. I have no regrets.
