We'd like to do a "work together" day for Infinite Red Portland locals and looking for a conference room or relatively quiet office to hang out in. We will be quiet and respectful ourselves, of course!

Anybody in Portland who would have an office space to host me and ~5-7 of my devs for a day? Probably in a couple weeks.

I'm talking about contributions, not consumption. Of course, everyone will freeload, consuming open source. But a tiny percentage ever contribute.

(I have done a ton of open source going back 15 years.)

That feels like a reach to me. I see it as orthogonal; a third thing, not like capitalism or like socialism, but rather a voluntary association thing.

This is a major reason why @infinite.red is so special as a company. Having owners with a mindset like this, it sows the roots for an incredible culture.

I understand the comparison (public ownership, accessible to all, for public benefit, collab over competition).

But it's very different in key ways. Importantly, it's voluntary, rather than coercive. There's no central authority compelling you to contribute time / money / resources to the commons.
