Mystics only have 1 2027 pick rn? Ya I would also put together some sort of draft pick and trade package for a 2027 pick. The question is who is willing to give up a 2027 first round pick (I still can't believe dallas was able to get Vegas to trade theirs for Nalyssa)

Oh I beg to differ, while I dont think there is the same obvious #1 pick its a very deep class, but also those draft picks can be used to make moves, draft picks are proving very valuable in trades

I think Mystics coaching is infinitely more competent than whatever is happening in Dallas rn, but if we put coaching aside. Mystics and Dallas are both building around young core, getting draft picks, etc. This is going to make them the most interesting long term teams for me.

I didn't realize we'd get a more obvious tank job than Dallas but Mystics said, "hold my beer" gotta hand it to them, especially after showing that they could be on playoff cusp. But its a team being built for the future so I get it (now free Aaliyah so she can go somewhere that will play her)

This does make me wonder if Aaliyah trade is incoming. Feels inevitable

They got AC and Zia Cooke, proceeded to waive Cooke, and AC, in my opinion, is not a value add. The Mystics have vets who can lead the team so she doesnt fill that role. Dolson is already unproductive, and you just added another unproductive vet to your roster.

Mystics are in a young rebuild mode, that is clear, and getting another draft pick helps with that, I just think they could have gotten more for Sykes imo

Free agency is really going to be the thing that informs if Fam could go 1, cause rn if im Dallas, she’s a top target (im taking Fam over Betts in a heart beat), but if they go and sign one or two productive, mobile bigs in free agency, that logic could totally flip.

And I’m higher on Fam than I was on Malonga. The most interesting part about 2026 draft is that the teams currently in contention for that #1 pick all have stars on their team already, so there is less motivation to draft one of the top collegiate players at 1 that bring name recognition.
