AllTheBacteria
Small update from AllTheBacteria (allthebacteria.org). Assemblies can be bulk downloaded from OSF as before, or you can now get individual assemblies from AWS. We now also have a LexicMap index on AWS, so you can align your favourite gene against 2.4million bacteria (next post for price estimates)

On an immunological note, promiscuous expression of reproductive tissue antigens in the thymus might also suggest there is a need for tolerance against these tissues, albeit earlier in life than most cancer patients. What are your thoughts?

Baking in marginal selection of antigens to prevent the adverse loss of reproduction seems a minor inconvenience compared to stopping someone from having kids full stop.
30.04.2025 11:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0
Saying reproductive tissues are fair game relegates the patient to an object rather than a living breathing person. If that cancer therapy destroys someone's child bearing or producing capacity that is not a good therapy.

Intriguing - maybe worth throwing into the mix that CTAs might need to be sex dependent. Probably not a great idea to give anti-testes CARTs to blokes and anti-placental CARTs to women.
