One of my favorite characters Iโ€™ve ever played was my human ranger Hane Hjulbrand (translates to Rooster Wheelfire, Rooster Cogburn from True Grit). a cross betwee that character and my gruff scandinavian grandfather (RIP)

Hard to say, but I do know that, as a GM, it is an uphill battle to find players for anything else, at least among my friend group. Either people donโ€™t want to learn new rules, or are already heavily invested in 5e (in terms of books purchased for added player options, etc). totally understandable!

As a warden, you donโ€™t need to track oxygen supplies, but if you want some resource management in your game, you can still pressure your players that way. Maybe there are cheaper masks that donโ€˜t last as long, or are harder to breathe through (disadvantage on checks and saves!)

#Mothership #TTRPG idea: do you want to have an unfriendly atmosphere, but still have your players out of a vaccsuit so they are potentially exposed? Make the CO2 concentration too high, so that you can make the characters need CO2-scrubbing masks.

Itโ€™s really good. the session was a first ttrpg experience for one of my players, and he seemed to love it. He was skeptical when I asked if he wanted to play, but his eyes lit up when I described mothership (I guess he was expecting a generic fantasyland sort of game)

Anyways, highly recommend this re-transcription process to decompress all of the information in a very compressed pamphlet adventure. Haunting of Ypsilon 14 is really well-written, you just have to make the effort to appreciate all of its subtleties! #Mothership #ttrpg

Also, having everything in Obsidian made it easy to create Bases where I could view all the NPCs, or all the locations (with the links between the locations in their own columns). Forced me to make decisions ahead of time, like "where are all of the NPCs located when the PCs first arrive?"

...given the constraints of the format. It is a ton of information in one page, front and back, so pretty much impossible for the authors to explicitly connect facts within the text!

I re-transcribed the entire module as a set of interconnected notes in Obsidian. Hugely helpful for connecting all the little hints in the module, spread over the descriptions of locations and NPCs. Not sure I would have quite put everything together in the same way just reading the module...

Currently obsessing over Mothership pamphlet adventures after having run the Haunting of Ypsilon 14 for some of my buddies and having it be one of the most satisfying sessions I've ever GMd. My impression after that initial session, we'll see if it holds up after running more pamphlet adventures:
