So Trump’s going to Russia. Can’t they keep him?

Why are UK News shows not pointing out Brexit has been a primary factor in the sky rocketing number of small boat crossings?

People are appallingly ignorant about immigration.

They don't understand basic things about "net immigration statistics" and have a completely warped sense of what is going on.

It is up to the government and the media to educate, but both are too busy batting their eyes at Nigel Farage's voters.

Take the way Trump’s recent intervention in the UK was reported. Most of the papers presented it as him giving β€œadvice” to Starmer about controlling immigration. He wasn’t giving well intentioned advice. He was deliberately stirring and stoking the hornet’s nest to drum up support for his cause.

The ignorance about immigration is being actively stoked with serious money and it’s why the far right are gaining ground. Yet everybody keeps talking about anti immigration sentiment as a spontaneous bottom up phenomenon which the far right are just capitalising on. That needs to be challenged.

If people in the UK are very poorly informed about immigration levels and where immigrants are coming from that’s precisely what the far right wanted to achieve. We need to stop talking about anti-immigrant sentiment as a spontaneous & bottom up. It’s being deliberately stoked with serious money.

Robert Kennedy has decided to stop funding mRNA research on a hunch that it is a deep state conspiracy to damage your body. Meanwhile genuinely damaging activities like burning oil get cheered on by the bonkers Trump fanatics trying to run the US.

New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation

Yesterday saw Superman in the cinema. In the Netherlands. Not a single chuckle in the room at any of the jokes. I’ve been to a production of Macbeth here where there were guffaws at the murder of Macduff’s children. Dutch audiences have a weird sense of humour.

That photo was normalizing him. It sent out a very wrong message.

05.08.2025 05:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes. He’’s reprehensible and shouldn’t be anywhere near power. That’s why I’m unhappy about him being normalized

"We will impeach and remove the president for his many crimes" seems like a good midterm election pitch to me idk

Only it isn’t creeping. It isn’t slow or sneaky. It’s all very blatant and moving fast.

Larry Summers: β€œThis isn’t just political gamesmanshipβ€”this is authoritarianism creeping in. Nixon never went this far. Firing statisticians? That’s straight out of the playbook that also targets journalists, universities, and law firms. This is dangerous, and we should all be alarmed.”

I don’t think he’s in league with Trump!! That’s ridiculous. I do think his efforts to stop Trump we’re very disappointing. He made a massive mistake with that photo which sent out a signal that all the talk of fascism was just campaign banter and Trump’s return to power just politics as normal

04.08.2025 07:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Okay can Biden NOW say he was wrong to grin on that photo and start calling out Trump’s destruction of democracy?

04.08.2025 07:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Not at all all. The β€œasteroid” is hitting earth and I’m angry that people in a position to stop it or at least point out how serious it is are instead normalizing it all or treating it as a joke. That’s what that photo did.

04.08.2025 06:16 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No. Just not pose for a photo. And if he had to pose for a photo to look solemn instead of grinning like he was having a great time

04.08.2025 06:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I meant the the photo op was Trump’s. But Biden grinned inanely, playing along and letting him have it. Politeness didn’t require that.

03.08.2025 12:25 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Isn't it weird that Dump doesn't find it offensive at all, that he continues to be asked if he's considering granting pardons to child rapists, and child traffickers. Anyone else with morals, would take offense to these questions, but no to him, it seems appropriate

03.08.2025 09:38 β€” πŸ‘ 153    πŸ” 37    πŸ’¬ 10    πŸ“Œ 1

Then when Trump won again Biden stood next to him for a photo op grinning like he was having the time of his life.

He needs to be platformed less. But when he appears he also needs to be asked how he feels about Trump’s dismantling of US democracy. Repeatedly. His support forβ€”and linksβ€”to Trump is a clear sign of what a Reform government would look like yet he’s being completely let off the hook for it

Labour should be asking Farage how he feels about every single bit of Trump’s agenda. It’s giving a clear taste of what a Reform government would look like yet Farage is being let off the hook by being allowed to stick to his script about immigration.

Yet over 30% planning on voting for Reform because Labour STILL won’t make the case that Brexit was a con and a disaster, that the rightwing populism it unleashed has done tremendous harm and that trusting its biggest cheerleader with the future of the country is therefore a very bad idea.
