People are appallingly ignorant about immigration.

They don't understand basic things about "net immigration statistics" and have a completely warped sense of what is going on.

It is up to the government and the media to educate, but both are too busy batting their eyes at Nigel Farage's voters.

Take the way Trump’s recent intervention in the UK was reported. Most of the papers presented it as him giving “advice” to Starmer about controlling immigration. He wasn’t giving well intentioned advice. He was deliberately stirring and stoking the hornet’s nest to drum up support for his cause.

The ignorance about immigration is being actively stoked with serious money and it’s why the far right are gaining ground. Yet everybody keeps talking about anti immigration sentiment as a spontaneous bottom up phenomenon which the far right are just capitalising on. That needs to be challenged.

If people in the UK are very poorly informed about immigration levels and where immigrants are coming from that’s precisely what the far right wanted to achieve. We need to stop talking about anti-immigrant sentiment as a spontaneous & bottom up. It’s being deliberately stoked with serious money.

Not at all all. The “asteroid” is hitting earth and I’m angry that people in a position to stop it or at least point out how serious it is are instead normalizing it all or treating it as a joke. That’s what that photo did.

I meant the the photo op was Trump’s. But Biden grinned inanely, playing along and letting him have it. Politeness didn’t require that.

Isn't it weird that Dump doesn't find it offensive at all, that he continues to be asked if he's considering granting pardons to child rapists, and child traffickers. Anyone else with morals, would take offense to these questions, but no to him, it seems appropriate

He needs to be platformed less. But when he appears he also needs to be asked how he feels about Trump’s dismantling of US democracy. Repeatedly. His support for—and links—to Trump is a clear sign of what a Reform government would look like yet he’s being completely let off the hook for it

Labour should be asking Farage how he feels about every single bit of Trump’s agenda. It’s giving a clear taste of what a Reform government would look like yet Farage is being let off the hook by being allowed to stick to his script about immigration.
