I'm having the regular writer experience of shiny new idea competing with ongoing project, and I *really* want to play with the shiny new idea. Compromising by saving the new thing for NaNoWriMo and just making copious notes for now, but I worry I won't be so excited come November.

The Burning God, by R. F. Kuang. Less my sort of thing than Babel, but I'm still finding the story very compelling.

I am in awe

The bits that take you by surprise are so often the best bits, because you usually get excited to write them, and excited by all the new possibilities. They just also spoil all your plans and sometimes require extensive rewriting.
