Why do I get the feeling that Influencers who said β€œboth sides are equally bad” or β€œI don’t like to talk about politics but…” are gonna start having meltdowns when their brand deals dry up bc companies can’t afford to waste money on them anymore due to the tariffs

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

Imagine watching that sermon and thinking it was "nasty." We elected a man who thinks mercy has no place in a house of worship. God help us.

You may not understand why, but the healthcare insurance and PBM contracts YOU have signed for Tesla, SpaceX , @X, along with CEOs of other big companies , have more impact on healthcare costs and quality of care in this country, than anything you can do with DOGE

Today, #KashPatel sent a letter to my counsel @markzaidesq.bsky.social threatening to sue & demanding I retract my MSNBC comments on his unfitness to serve as FBI Director. This follows his threats against media & political opponents, showing how he might act if confirmed. I stand by my statements.

Yeah I really wish people could just agree that 2016 was the ball game. Rs also say "most important election," will pretend that the Vance-Shapiro race is existentially important, but the "fill the Scalia and Ginsburg seats" election was the ball game.

realizing that questions like "how will you pay for it" are the equivalent of the reporter punching you in the face, not a quiz you can figure out the correct answer to, is gonna be important for dem candidates.

and hey: many different ways to respond to getting punched!

the thing Trump was pressed on a lot re: paying for stuff was in 2016 with "how will you pay for the wall" and the answer he arrived at was the absurd "Mexico will pay for it!" which is a huge blatant lie but the media was just like "ok" instead of really trying to get at him on it. Telling example!

Everyone who covered 2019-2020 has scars from the "how will you pay for it ... with MIDDLE CLASS TAXES?" M4A discourse.

Now: Did you ever see an interviewer ask Trump how he'd pay for free IVF? Go and look. It didn't happen.

Roginsky: Do you know why they're unnamed.. Because Pete Hegseth has bound his accuser to an NDA.

Tapper: You said you don't like all these anonymous accusations, and I should be able to interview these people. I'm saying, ok, shouldn't Hegseth release this woman from her NDA so that I can do what you suggested at the top of the interview, you wanted me to do?

Scott: Absolutely not.

Yeah to be clear I know Sarah Isgur is a hack who has done great evils in her life, I am just saying, even if she hadn’t, why include something that is both this self-serving and this obviously wrong? You don’t need to quote everyone you talk to! Especially if you get vapid horseshit like this!

But they gave themselves no firm restrictions on gifts, travel or real estate deals. Nothing in the new rules appears aimed directly at the trips and gifts Justice Thomas accepted. The code says only that justices should uphold the dignity of the office and comply with existing gift guidelines, in separate federal rules, which make allowances for β€œpersonal hospitality.” Justice Thomas has maintained that his nondisclosure of gifts and free travel did not violate those rules.

Sarah Isgur, co-host of β€œAdvisory Opinions,” a podcast about the court, said the justices seemed to be trying to preserve some latitude amid the constraints imposed by security threats, protests and heavy scrutiny.

β€œThey are already so isolated,” she said. β€œI don’t know that people fully appreciate what the life of a Supreme Court justice is.”

A tip for legal journalists is that if you reach out to an "expert," and their take is that maybe the justices want to keep getting free trips from billionaires because being a Supreme Court justice is really, really hard, it's OK to leave that quote out of the story www.nytimes.com/2024/12/03/u...
