Here's an example of stale discourse: the narrative anchors on whether or not cell phone bans improve test scores. But cell phone bans have much greater impact beyond just tests and attendance, from reducing fights to making teachers' lives easier with discipline.

Netanyahu does not really know what he wants from Gaza except a political narrative that helps him win the next election. The one narrative that doesn't help him is the two-state solution; he will wage war on that too.

Both sides benefit from a temporary pause (for different reasons). Neither side wants to go beyond that to stabilizing Gaza into a new type of geopolitical entity.

Idk if this is serious, but Israeli politics and reliance on U.S. military aid is unique; U.S. can't manipulate Russia the same way, and must escalate to force a change in Russian behavior.
