Yesterday, @washingtonpost.com Washington Post published an image of Gaza City which looked like Hiroshima.
It seems that this is one of the *least damaged* areas in the Gaza Strip. Short thread:

I spent decades at Columbia. I’m withdrawing my fall course due to its deal with Trump | Rashid Khalidi The university’s draconian policies and new definition of antisemitism make much teaching impossible

“a simple description of the discriminatory nature of Israel’s 2018 Nation State Law..or of the apartheid nature of its control over millions of Palestinians…would be impossible in a ME history course under IHRA.”

If I may ask, do you think this is a response to growing calls for academic boycott and EU sanctions or is it too cynical?

I live in Britain; I grew up in Israel. It’s painful to say, but we need real UK sanctions to save Gaza | Yair Wallach Symbolic gestures and empty statements are no longer enough. In Israel’s globalised economy, here’s what will shift public opinion, says says senior lecturer in Israeli studies Yair Wallach

By continuing business as usual, Israel’s international partners are allowing the Israeli government to continue with its genocidal campaign with no consequences beyond symbolic gestures of disapproval and statements.

The IPC's deliberation of the emergence of widespread famine conditions in Gaza nails Netanyahu's lie that there is no famine. IPC assessments are data driven, technical and reviewed by expert committee. Meanwhile Israel is still cynically trying to plant stories and comment pieces.

Israeli says it has begun aid airdrops into Gaza The IDF says seven packages with flour, sugar, and canned food were delivered to Gaza, amid a growing hunger crisis there.

So the power that controls all land and sea access to Gaza, and that directly occupies much of the territory where starvation is worst, can’t do better than an airdrop? Grotesque comedy.

Well deserved, but the review does not heap enough superlatives on this book (which explains why 7th of October happened through a deep historical exposé). I'm halfway through, and it's probably one of the most impressive works of history or social science I've read in a long time
