A fun reminder that a loss of 60,000 jobs in and around academia is ~50% more than all coal mining jobs in the entire country.

This was obvious from his online cult for most of the last decade. Anyone who wasn't at this level of narcissism would have been appalled by basically every aspect of his fan culture.

especially given how chalky NFL playoffs are at the CG/SB level

mathematically there is thought. NFLs scheduling mechanism also allows for the perception of more competition (bad teams get easier schedules, fewer games means you can look "closer" to being good - "we won 8 games! were almost a playoff team"

mlb also doesnt need to and shouldnt try to be like the nfl. theyre two totally different sports with different media fits!

scarcity of product and onboarding more fans from beijg first movers on fantasy/gambling. nfl has less parity than baseball and less impactful player movements between teams than mlb. its the weekly event based nature of the fandom.

baseball isn't "fair." agreed. also not fair is bob nutting being born into generational wealth, buying control of my team, and killing what was left of it for his own margins. do not let him get away with this framing

sasaki signing with the dodgers does not prevent bob nutting from signing a right fielder. i do not care about "the rich getting richer" until my favorite team gives a cursory effort. sell the team if you can't

Tom Brady is the only NFL broadcaster I've ever heard who doesn't sound absolutely out of his mind with delight at getting to call a play involving a stiff-arm. He was reaching for it, he knows he's supposed to do it, but he just lacks the buccal fat at this point.

The "obey in advance" bended-knee kowtowing to Trump by media outlets from the Post, LA Times, the ABC News $15M surrender to Trump's defamation claim, and more, is a sickening betrayal of the free press' role in a democracy. I hope good journalists will speak out and resist these assaults on truth
