You guys made a great point in your pod today too! How many people think a recession looks like 2020?

For that matter, both the GFC and COVID crisis offer two extremes when it comes to recession in terms of breadth and depth.

Can anyone offer first context to a “normal” recession?

For example, do we have any historical context for an internal threat to the future of the US democratic system?

History is a powerful teacher. And I’m usually first to quote Sir John Templeton about the four most expensive words in investing.

God, I hope so. Not for any anti-US reasons (this time), but anyone who has been touting the benefits of global diversification for years could use a win, am I right?

Given how easily the markets have dismissed tariff threats thus far, it does seem like an “oh shit, he actually did it” overreaction may be in the cards.

But then again, the market could just as easily keep its head in the sand.
