Obligatory whining time - they gentrified it. The whole point of Mk II is to look archaic and crude. Like a 19th century diving suit. They streamlined it too much, made it look like a variant of their latest Mk 3. The fact the legs now have engraved lines, instead of overlapping plates, is a shame

The actual plinth is a top from some cosmetic jar, filled with plaster and sprayed black. The rest is all sculpted in milliput and covered in tufts

Just brushed a coat of gloss varnish on the armour and only started painting the weathering after with things like oil washes (dilluted with matt medium), metallic scratches and dirt marks with matt paint

Thats a big part of making realistic weathering. The contrast between textures. The specularity of gloss, painted armour surfaces vs. the matt, dusty gunkiness and crust accumulating in the recesses
