So I tried to correlate each of those with the state of attention spans in 2024

I think those resonance points are:

Wanting to feel something in that moment (a hit of dopamine)

Wanting to sustain a vibe (a groove, a meditation)

Wanting to care about someone/something (a connection, a relationship)

But the waves of new storytelling experiments are visible

With each iteration, we’ll get closer to new native mediums that resonate with what an audience wants

This reminded me of Quibi. In retrospect, it was the right experiment, but hamstrung by traditional filmmaking structures and timelines that made it impossible to iterate

I thinking about how the tools for creating cinematic video are getting to the point where any person with a story can prompt it into existence

We are entering a new era of rapid iteration around storytelling that will result in new native formats (supplanting music videos, TV shows, movies)

New storytelling formats when anyone can synthesize & syndicate anything they imagine:
