I used to want to create just for creation's sake. Part of the joy of creation is sharing what you have made. Before, the world could ignore or interact and whatever happened, happened. Now, to be subsumed and erased by AI artistry makes it feel more like pissing in the wind.

And that's really the thing. It's not just that AI art is empty and authorless; it's the fact that there it has become accepted. Not in art spaces, but everywhere else. It feels like that explicit scene in Akira where the girl is crushed to death by the wall of ever-growing, mindless flesh.

6 years ago, I had carpal tunnel release surgery, and I jumped back into creation again. The last 6 years have seen me grow into a style that I finally feel is my own.

I don't like feeling this way, but lately I wonder what the point is? Everywhere I look, everyone I know; AI slop. Nobody cares.

As an artist who never made art their #1 priority, who has never depended on it for income, I can say that AI art has heavily discouraged me from creating anything in the last couple of years.

It was hard enough before, but now? There is an infinite wall of trash to compete.
