also I might've caught the bad games bug, because when Alan Wake was a janky mess I chuckled as if an old dog had brought me a chewed up toy

but when Control presented me with a minor inconvenience I scoffed like the waiter at a fancy restaurant had gotten my order wrong

With both Alan Wake and Control I feel like there should be some big twist or reveal at their climax, but the third acts are for both are basically "and now go shoot the thing".

Very cool conceptually, yeah.

Narrative and vibe are excellent and on the the technical side it's immaculate, but it just doesn't come together for me.

That's a wrap for Control for me. Kinda didn't enjoy it as much as I had expected tbh

Looking back on this clip, I *think* my first try at this boss glitched out, because some of the lights are supposed to still be on. Otherwise you end up in this situation where the fight is softlocked if you spend your energy.

Even still, the boss sucked without glitching.

The tech in this game is decidedly decadent

I constantly see posts referring to a “crisis” in the video game industry, but I’ve honestly never seen what metric this is based on.

As far as I can tell revenue, output and employment levels are generally stable for the industry? Hard to find reliable data, so would love sources for the claims.

My dream game is Chrono Trigger, except instead of fighting, everyone plays in a band.

The inclusion of time travel is not a strict requirement, but would be nice.

I read that the new localisation was pretty grating compared to the XSEED one. Is this not the common thought?

Ch1 is a tutorial
Ch3 is a gimmick stage
Ch4 is filled with superpowered robots
Ch5 is the set-piece cinematic climax

That leaves ch2 as the only “regular” part of the game.

Unless you’re doing armed uprising, then it doesn’t matter how great your personal political capital is if you give up on electoralism
