If you are referring to SNAP benefits, the shutdown has nothing to do with it. Healthcare, either. Once Congress opens, the 218th signer of the discharge vote to release the Epstein files will trigger. Trump doesn’t need/want Congress to govern. Expect this to go until 2028, at least.

Yup. American tax payers pay the tariffs, not other countries, despite what President Trump says. He often says “we made $8T in tariffs from other countries” not understanding that it’s Americans who pay.

The SCOTUS is supposed to rule next week whether all those tariffs were legal, as Congress is supposed to set them. If they’re reversed, does Trump give money back to 190+ countries or does he ignore the courts? We’ll see soon enough…

FWIW, the FBI and DOJ are supposed to be independent of the White House, by law and by design. It wasn’t up to Biden to release the Epstein files, it was up to Merrick Garland. Garland did prosecute Hunter Biden, though. This would be like Bondi going after Don Jr.

I read that, for some reason, the DNS no longer pointed to their DynamoDB list of users, accounts, and other key data at their Northern Virginia hub data center. If they had another data center that was ok, they could have switched over to that one easily. Alas, that wasn’t the case.

This is why the shutdown will last until 2028 or beyond. Speaker Johnson & President Trump don’t want her sworn in so the discharge gets signed. My guess is this is the one & only reason for the shutdown.

Very cool! Growing up, I knew several sets of twins, and they had seemed to be connected in similar ways. Great to see that this theory in the 1890’s is becoming a reality today.
