Sometimes being a scientist means you get to do things like spending 8 hours sticking moth eggs onto pieces of tape…

For my birthday this year, please go request Rainbow Science at your local library. And if you have read it already, go post a quick review on Amazon, Goodreads, or give it some stars at Target etc. πŸ™‚ Go do this for all your other author (or illustrator) friends too! @jvnla.bsky.social

Repetitive microscope work might seem boring to some, but to me it means I get to spend some time listening to an audiobook. Today it’s Camp Zero by Michelle Min Sterling. What are some of your favorite audiobooks?

One day I decided to join a book club that incorporated a dance class (since I did not know how to dance at all!) Several years later and I spent my weekend performing (with my kids) in the studio’s modern reimagining (not ballet) of the Nutcracker!

A letter from the Scholastic corporation that reads "Dear Authors and Illustrators,
I want to update you regarding the Book Fairs Share Every Story/Celebrate Every
Voice case.
First, I want to apologize on behalf of Scholastic. Even if the decision was made
with good intention, we understand now that it was a mistake to segregate diverse
books in an elective case. We sincerely apologize to every author,
illustrator, licensor, educator, librarian, parent, and reader who was hurt by our
action. We recognize and acknowledge the pain caused, and that we have broken
the trust of some of our publishing community, customers, friends, trusted partners,
and sta", and we also recognize that we will now need to regain that trust.
This case will be discontinued starting with our next season in January. For the
remaining fairs in the fall, Book Fairs is working on a pivot plan as we speak. We will
find an alternate way to get a greater range of books into the hands of children. We
remain committed
