You wonder why people working in president’s office calls her VIP1 and him VIP2. And VIP 2 is way, way behind VIP1. She runs the show. He is just a ventriloquist’s dummy.

Does he try to influence Yoon directly? No. He talks to Yoon’s wife KGH. Does KGH try to influence Yoon? No. She calls up Yoon Han-hong directly and tells him he’s not getting the job. She then calls her husband, the new president, and tells him that he should be aware of her decision.

So a man named Yoon Han-hong (윤한홍) is being considered for the Chief Secretary position (I believe, called the Chief of Staff in the US ? - although the work may be different). Anyway, it’s 비서실장 in Korean. But Myung doesn’t like him for some reason.

But normally, how would this work if someone is trying to influence the decision-making process? They would try to influence the president, or try to influence someone who would then try to influence the president.

Is this what is happening here? Not a chance.

Of the latest batch of tapes, one really sheds light on the dynamics of how the presidential office decision making process happens.

His wife Kim Geun-hee (KGH) is accused of meddling in the nomination process for various political offices, and also involving herself in personnel decisions.

One of the interesting things about these Myung Tae-gyun tapes is the way they are being released - drip-drip-drip over weeks, like a Chinese torture technique - and not all at once. It’s annoying the press who have to cover it at the last minute, and paralyzing the conservatives.
