A “good” lawyer will have the affiant go through the declaration line-by-line and have the affiant explain to the lawyer what the affiant understands each sentence to mean.

On particularly important declarations, the affiant should have at least a day before signing to ask questions.

Maybe? I figure it’s usually educated nonlawyers who make these wrong inferences. They know impeachment is a thing, reasonably think it applies sometimes, don’t know what they don’t know.
