This mastodon instance has been down for a few days and in the mean time I have continued to enjoy using my new GoToSocial instance.

Followers should be moved over to @amd@gts.amd.im in a few hours.

First day of testing #GoToSocial went very well. So I just loaded in all my follows from @amd

There are only a few small drawbacks to GtS and they’re all being worked on. I’ll test a couple more days then hit the move from my old mastodon instance.

I’m going to give GoToSocial a test as a replacement for this personal instance.

You may see a follow request from @amd@gts.amd.im as I start evaluating it further.

Who is out there on GoToSocial and can recommend the best iOS app?

Is it just @phanpy as a PWA?

I’m getting much more comfortable in @FreeCAD.

The 1.0 release is much more resilient than it used to be and I’m getting much better at doing things the freecad way (I think…)

I still have yet to tackle the assembly workbench.

Three samples of a 3d printed radius gauge for the back of a set of calipers sitting on a 3d printing bed. One is attached to calipers to indicate how the tool works, another is sitting right side up but not attached to calipers to show the relief to fit the caliper bolts, and a third is flipped over to show the embedded label that has the equation required to use the tool.

A lot of people have done versions of this tool, but none of them were right for my calipers or the magnets I had on hand.

And worse: None of them used an open CAD format that I could edit to correct that.

This creates a feature that is 3.5mm deep with the lower 3mm of the cylinder pocketed and the top 0.5mm of the cylinder remaining solid.

As an example: here is me inducing the error 3 times and moving the @FreeCAD window between my monitors showing the different placement of the error each time.

The control panel user interface in freecad, the notification area tab is highlighted to show its settings. There are a variety of settings in the form of labeled checkboxes and input fields. These allow disabling or modifying the settings for the notification window and what is displayed there, but other an input field for the width of the notification window there are not settings guiding placement or location.

Is it possible to dock or otherwise reposition the notification window in @FreeCAD ?

I like the notifications, but I can't stand that the window just seems to appear wherever it wants, and I cannot seem to find a remedy in the documentation other than turning […]
