Who is we? Many Canadians, particularly those of us not based in the US or who are involved more closely with other parts of the world, no longer care what Americans think. If American liberals think the whole world is waiting for the US to revert to some pre-Trump mean, they are mistaken

Can you imagine anyone on a team playing in the Champions League, even the Brits, ever saying something like this?

Yes, we in the rest of the world all get that most Americans don't like borders or foreign countries while rich Americans who do travel actually believe the world is desperately awaiting their arrival

As someone whose life trajectory with Japan mirrors Adam's with Germany, it's obvious to me that American liberals have long understood the world largely through the lens of America as the indispensable nation. Too many truly think the world will simply wait four years for a reversion to this mean.

Countries overly dependent on U.S. exports and lacking leverage are forced into absurd concessions and cringe-worthy flattery of the “great leader” — or risk Canada’s fate.
Then there’s the EU: economic leverage, but no ability to use it thanks to geopolitical dependence.
