Who is we? Many Canadians, particularly those of us not based in the US or who are involved more closely with other parts of the world, no longer care what Americans think. If American liberals think the whole world is waiting for the US to revert to some pre-Trump mean, they are mistaken

Yes, we in the rest of the world all get that most Americans don't like borders or foreign countries while rich Americans who do travel actually believe the world is desperately awaiting their arrival

As someone whose life trajectory with Japan mirrors Adam's with Germany, it's obvious to me that American liberals have long understood the world largely through the lens of America as the indispensable nation. Too many truly think the world will simply wait four years for a reversion to this mean.

โSillyโ hardly captures it.
Countries overly dependent on U.S. exports and lacking leverage are forced into absurd concessions and cringe-worthy flattery of the โgreat leaderโ โ or risk Canadaโs fate.
Then thereโs the EU: economic leverage, but no ability to use it thanks to geopolitical dependence.

Nobody can control as many quadrants of the strike zone as Bo Bichette! I'll take him hitting clean up every day if he can hit off a solid lower half, even if he has limited range playing second, especially when the Jays desperately need to lengthen their lineup against elite starters.

I never understand why progressive Americans continue to be surprised and disappointed by the 'liberal' American media. The NY Times has a long track record that tells the world how they do journalism and what they stand for.

The Spritzes and Carbonaras That Ate Italy
The very thing is happening here in Kyoto that has devastated the restaurant scene in those areas in Italian towns and cities overrun by tourism. But away from the hoards, in ordinary neighbourhoods and non-touristy locales, normal gastronomic life persists.

We'll need him as the Yankees clearly have an advantage in terms of starting pitching that hopefully won't translate into them taking early leads and the Jays being forced to constantly play from behind.

Americans have long mischaracterized their drug problem with Latin America. The real driver is U.S. demandโa deep-rooted problem fuelling cultivation, processing, & trafficking while devastating L. As Robert Cox argued in the 1980s, global hegemonyโtoday American hegemonyโis not simply power โoverโ others but rests on ideas and practices that elicit consent. Dominance is another matter. In this sense, Chinaโs project is not hegemonic. Neither is the MAGA conation of world order.

In a China-obsessed US, Dan Wongโs new book Breakneck is making waves. It echoes the 1980s wave of books on Japanโs rise, warning of threats & lessons for America. The parallels are striking, contrasting โideal-typeโ societies โ engineering vs. legalistic โ to feed the same old American anxieties.

The framing of Chinese infrastructure investment in Latin America in terms of some threat to the US, or some "win" for China via-a-vis the US instead of whether it is beneficial for forging real links across the region, so reflects the China hysteria that has gripped US politicians and media.

There are undoubtedly a few Jewish chauvinists in the MAGA coalition but their concern is ensuring US support for Israel's supremacy in the Middle East at all costs. But mostly the MAGA coalition has white supremacists who love Israeli domination of its neighbours but who otherwise dislike Jews
