I’ve been doing a good job not adding to my WIPs, but have been pretty slow actually getting what I have done (January sucked). That said god I miss this guy. I wanna draw this guy again.

Just some thoughts regarding ALT text: Sometimes you don't have a lot of energy or words are hard. I get it. There's a lot going on the world, and we're all tired. But it's extra important to be inclusive in these times! Community is so important! Things I do to help me with ALT text:

I would add that reading other people's alt text will help you learn too.
It is also just fun to see what other artists think about their art; how they talk about it, and what they thought was important enough to include in their alt text etc. You might learn about things you hadn't noticed-

This is a skill. You're not going to get it right all at once, but that doesn't mean it's not worth doing.

All this, of course, is coming from someone who doesn't use a screen reader, so if anyone has more experience on the topic feel free to correct me if I've flubbed.

Start small. Break it down and work up to something good, remove barriers where you can. In a world where so many people are left out, where we are so isolated, I think this is something we can try to do to build up healthier spaces for each other.

and filtering out extraneous info. Eventually you can get to "My goth girl OC drinking coffee at a bus stop. She looks tired, and it is raining." Maybe you can add things like: "its early morning, and she's dressed for the cold." The trick is to build up to it.

-easier to tackle. Then you add to the chunk: "My goth girl OC drinking coffee. Thats 2/3 of the chunks you need already done! Now the background? "She's at a bus stop". That's a lot more info than saying nothing or just "art of my oc".
Over time you'll get comfortable adding more description

Who/what is the piece about? What are they doing? Where are they? If its a blank background or a coloured square, that counts as where!
The breaking things down into chunks helps with making it feel more manageable too. Looking at the whole piece might feel overwhelming, but "my goth girl oc" is-

You will get better with practise! Learning to describe your art, or what info to keep for clarity and descriptiveness is hard. There's a common infographic that goes around you can use to get you started. But basically break it down into chunks that tell: who, what, and where.

1. Keep a library of your alt text so you can copy/paste as you need.
2. Write the alt text as you are working on the piece, even if its just the main gist of the piece. Update it as you go/when you have energy so that there's very little work to do when you do post your art.

I remember the color of the lake before they built it and the sludge I see in it when I go to see her. Shut the fuck up about “the benefits of AI” forever.

Might been done on my drawing tablet don’t recall. Point still stands.

Saw the icon for the second doodle in my photos and got struck with sudden appreciation for the way the skin and shadows on his neck looks. For a speedy doodle I did on my iPad I feel like there was something there.

This is so stunning. The glowing moonlight is beautiful, but I mean the swan imagery? It‘s just so good. The drama of it? It’s giving old, classic fairytale or theatre. Really, you’ve done so amazingly.
