Yesterday I had to drive an hour each way to get a doctor's appointment and instead of bemoaning this wasted time as I normally would, I left early so I could go to a forest preserve near the doctor's office for a walk and I listened to an audiobook in the car. A+ experience, would repeat.

I think people find that when they reread a work, they notice new things about it that make them appreciate it more deeply. For me that has been true, but I am still not usually motivated to revisit.

Yes, same! When the choice is "this book you've already read" or "bike 45 minutes to the library," you often choose the book you've already read, ha.

That isn't to say that reading books doesn't remind me why I love writing. That happens all the time. It's just generally something I haven't read before.

An audience member at a panel I was on last year asked us "what books do you reread to remember why you love writing" (or similar) and it haunts me. I do not generally reread books. Is that weird? I can't tell.
