Those sites are now deep in the floodplains of AI slop. And flicking the little "No A.I." toggle does nothing because it seems that it's up to the person posting the item to be honest about its provenance. 😕

And it hits no matter where you are on the artistic scale. I don't have the gift of drawing, but I am quite deft at repurposing found items within GIMP, like vectors and such you could find, purchase, and cobble together from 124rf, Dreamtime, etc.

Verily, I say unto thee - in amounts most copious hath the rain fallen since the hour of the witch was upon me and three is nary a sign of abatement!

On the genderlessness of “dude":

Most times I deploy the word “dude”, it’s not even in the vocative. It’s not referencing ANYone.

If it's anything, it's a soft expletive.

“Fuck! What is that?”
“Shit! What is that?”
“Dude! What is that?”

Anyone else out there willing to admit that it's all too overwhelming right now and they don't actually have the answers to any of this, but they DO understand that feeling when your own creations shun you?

Can anyone commiserate without smugly sliding in that the above trouble doesn't inflict them? I wanna talk to those who feel like their stories have placed some hard boundaries in their direction - the one's who've opened and closed their writing apps numerous times without any new words.

I can't be alone, can I? I know some of you possess the magic widget to escape into your writing. No irony, no lie - I wish I had that widget. Instead, my writing feels like it's on the other side of a massive door to which I don't have the key right now.

Given the vastness of the Alpha & Beta Quadrants, it seems far more likely that those two random dudes at the end of a horrific war on their home planet elevated their own importance (and agendas) to demigod-like representatives of their cultural struggle. We've ALL met dudes like that. ;)

My answer to how she can be present is simply that, canonically, Cheronians verge on biological immortality and were warp-capable. The idea they could genuinely be wiped out across known space is what stretches credibility.

When you start revising a chapter you wrote ages ago and you have all these words on the page - so many words! - but the threads of intent, direction, and purpose that originally gave those words meaning have evaporated... 😶

Them: I'm glad you replied, btw do you have email so we can discuss few things related to your stories. Me: I do try to reply with a civil tongue, even when I’m sure the direction things are going because you never know, right? Not really in one’s best interest to respond abrasively if abrasion wasn’t intended. But when you scammers can’t be bothered to change up how you deploy your scams, not even to help cover your own tracks, then I feel like my prior concern takes a back seat. Look, I write stories chockablock with OCs. I ship OC x Canon. I detest slow-burn and instead either deliver accelerant-fueled fast-burn where the horny dummies need to deal with the fallout of rumpled sheets; else, I deliver established relationships that run into trouble. I don't do that endless yearning for 1000 pages. It's just not my cuppa. But, all this means I will never, ever, ever see the kind of traffic others who write established canon ships do. I will never see the traffic that those who lean into popular tropes do. And I made my peace with that long ago because I know that if I write what I write, the aforementioned will be the end result. Happiness is 100% about having realistic expectations. But then you assholes show up with your comments, and occasionally even kudos. And it’s an emotional kick to the dangly bits for someone like me who hardly ever gets comments. A minor kick.It's not like I'm reaching for a Xanax parachute, but a kick all the same. You pour your heart into a chapter, see a comment come in, pray it’s at least positive, and then it turns out to be neither positive nor negative, but instead a non-sequitur scam. I don’t want the A.I. slop "art" you will eventually try to sell me. I can make that crusty-ass garbage by myself if that's what I wanted. I don't need you for that. And why would anyone need to go somewhere else to “discuss my story” when there’s a whole-ass comments section right here. Do you lot not see this gaping logical flaw in your plan? FFS, …

Same boat. 😕 I write mostly OCFic, which doesn't get a lot of traction. And there's a whiff of emotional manipulation to the whole thing. Like, "Look, I gave kudos. Please don't put me on blast!!"

Fake kudos are fake kudos no matter the source.
