In the early 80s Jack would confuse Mark Harmon with Marc Singer (I mean, wouldn’t you, Jack explained to his sister once), but once that issue of People came out, there was no mistaking Harmon for anyone else, ever, in Jack’s mind. Sexiest. Man. Alive.

A color portrait of NBA superstar Patrick Ewing, the 7-foot tall center who helped the Knicks dominate professional basketball in the 1990s. Something most biographies of Ewing omit is that during his 17-year NBA career, Ewing wore the same shoes for every game. Not just the same brand or make of shoe, but the exact same pair of shoes. Whenever he was asked how this single pair of shoes could last so long Ewing would only smile, with a twinkle in his eyes. Sportswriters assumed Ewing was being coy. But in fact, Ewing could not say. Literally. He could not form the words to explain. In his darker moments, Ewing thought of the deal he’d made with the strange slender man in a green tunic as a curse. But then he’d look down at the shoes and tell himself that it was not a curse. It was a charm.

Apologies to other Natrones, but that is the perfect name and they should have retired Natrone after that.

Anyone who thinks the NYC subways are scary does not ride the NYC subways. Or perhaps hasn't since the 1980s (and even then it wasn't as bad as people claimed).

Has NYC congestion pricing worked? MTA releases dramatic new traffic volume numbers Quicker trips, fewer traffic jams, and shifts in commuting patterns are becoming more apparent. Here's what MTA officials are saying since congestion pricing has been implemented:

It is amazing how well this has worked out so far, by the numbers and also just in terms of what you see at the river crossings and in midtown. No greater proof of how cowed/dorky/incompetent New York Democrats are that none of them can even find it in themselves to take any credit for it.

Every subway crime gives rise to a new round of pundits claiming NYC a failed city. Every shooting in states with insane gun laws is met with deafening silence from the same people.

It’s funny that we are all acknowledging that private health care is an absolute bureaucratic nightmare designed to limit treatment at the expense of patients’ lives and lots of people still believe that trans kids are just walking into medical facilities and getting treatment without question.
