Hydrogen demand down from 55TWh to 34TWh but the drop absorbed by a convenient 29TWh of data centre load..

Would be handy if they did an alternative scenario excluding the tech choice gov policies (eg. Vic offshore wind, Qld keep coal until 2050 etc)

Yeah I thought they would have locked down VSC extensions like they do for Chrome but apparently they're utilising the yolo approach for that..

It also has the line "train riders remain scarce on weekends" without any evidence. Is this even published on a regular basis? Anecdotally trains on weekend are infrequent but much fuller than weekday non-peak times..

Explains why I got an email today saying IT were replacing it with VS Code, seems overkill IMO but I can kind of see their logic..

Hierarchy of controls diagram.

Hierarchy of controls diagram.

IMO they're useless for construction OHS.

Think about something like dust from engineered stone, which causes silicosis.

The hierarchy of controls says that Elimination is the most effective control and PPE is least effective.

A Hepa filter in the corner is much less effective than N95s etc.

I am as guilty of it as everyone but it's kinda funny we're all quoting a content mill account that doesn't cite its sources to be mad about AI slop

Now it makes sense why I saw this on another site - 6 packs of tim tams at CostCo in the US for the equivalent of AUD15.

Meanwhile, $6 per pack at Woolies..

It's probably well known in the industry and for those of a certain age, but I can't recall ever reading about it.

And can definitely see the libertarian point of getting rid of regulations /s

Extract from the wiki article

However, Appendix H of the report was not published at the time, and was only made available to the public in 2012, nearly 30 years later, after a Freedom of Information request first made by the Canberra Times in December 1982 was finally successful. The appendix noted that:

The flesh of donkeys, goats, kangaroos, buffaloes and horses, killed in the field and without regard to any consideration of hygiene ... was used indiscriminately to produce food for human consumption

Interesting thread and article, but there's an offhand reference to an "Australian horse and kangaroo meat scandal of 1981" that made me look twice.

So apparently we had a massive issue 45 years ago with exported beed (sometimes horse/roo) and it led to a Royal Commission and big changes..

Victoria spent $100m on school air purifiers. We don’t know if they worked More than 110,000 machines were sent to schools around the state. The data doesn’t show they made any difference. Was it money well spent?

I still don't know whether they're effective for schools, a great science journo @liammannix.bsky.social in our local paper did a good piece on it a while ago.

OHS wise, do what Australia has done and eliminate stone bench tops because trades don't risk manage..

I suppose if you got rid of the Glen Iris Level Crossing, you could probably do the tram line extension at the same time for an extra $100m.

Seems like PTUA even suggested it back in the day per below.

Personally I just want a better service on the 734 bus..

The example of Ashburton is also interesting given it's relatively well serviced, with the article map highlighting a lowish cost of $0.139 per person per weekday.

Not sure extending the Route 6 tram line to Ashburton per her suggestion would be high on anyone's list of priorities...

We've got one of those on my bus route, the maps have it at 140m but in reality one of the stops has moved/is wrongly documented so it's actually 100m.

Is it very common here?

Other EV data is now out in the linked article, and 2025 already has more EV sales (92,885) with one month to go than in 2024 (91,293).

It's not growing fast enough but at 8% y/o/y growth it's definitely not going backwards like some of the haters think..

Unfortunately Apple doesn't look to have rolled out something similar yet..

it's the classic programmer trap: just because something works in our domain doesn't mean it will work in other domains! "how hard could it be, it's only rocket science" etc

the sheer hubris to think that a robot that is 80% right will be good enough for other, less fault-tolerant domains.
