I'm with you on this one, although I'm told the feature is pretty good.

I mean...it IS a transitional season. Back when The Two Towers came out everyone was like "oh meh it just felt unresolved" like NO SHIT it's the MIDDLE of a story! It's not "just" setting up anything, it's developing characters you're supposed to care about and putting them in place for the finale.

That's a dumb reason for it to be controversial. It is controversial because it's coercive and toxic.

They're different! I don't know the full details but Tolkien uses Sindarin and Quenya where the Witcher uses Elder. They have Welsh inspiration in common but are separate languages.

As a social commentary this shit is happening to women now, and having media that shows it as a reason for the protagonists to fight back, to me, that's powerful.

Purpose to find Ciri, and he GETS INVOLVED to save the victim which is a big turning point for the character. This is just one example but the times when abuse is present it is presented as a fact that motivates a character rather than shown for lurid entertainment.

Obviously protect yourself from trauma but in comparison with shows like GOT the SA is plot and character development (+taken from source material) and not shown in graphic tits-out detail like Dany/Drogo, or sexy incest like Jaime/Cersei. The attempted SA in E1 brings Geralt off his single minded🧵

I see complaints about depictions of SA in The Witcher but it's a position of privilege to be able to ignore the fact that men use SA as a weapon in wartime (Ep 1). Same with turning away from the fact of coercive relationships (Ciri/Mistle) and CSA (Milva). 🧵

The witcher season 4: is it just me or is Regis' backstory kinda the same as Dracula's in Castlevania?

Final thoughts on The Witcher S4. It was good! Even Ciri's scenes with the rats didn't annoy me any more by the end lol. Liam hemsworth was an enjoyable Geralt. Laurence Fishburne was really charming. The Hansa had good chemistry. My only gripe is that we didn't get any Yennefer/Jaskier scenes.

I really enjoyed the camp! And agree about Liam and Leo

This actor made me believe that Geralt actually wanted that happily ever after.

Leo is amazingly done, great job by Sharlto Copley!

I loved this about his portrayal this season!

I feel like this Geralt is a real person and not just a self loathing slab of muscle.

Season 1 was great from a story analysis standpoint but it wasn't obvious enough about the alternating time lines for a lot of people. S3 was a hot mess of scenes & characters thrown together disjointedly, but in S4 they got a narrative back.
