Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

Stonewall shares the deep concern at the widespread implications for today’s ruling from the Supreme Court. It will be incredibly worrying for the trans community and all of us who support them. It’s important to be reminded the Court strongly and clearly re-affirmed the Equality Act protects all trans people against discrimination, based on Gender Reassignment, and will continue to do so. Once we read and fully digest the judgement, we will work with stakeholders across all sectors to provide as much clarity as possible. Stonewall will continue its work with the Government and parliamentarians to achieve equal rights under the law for LGBTQ+ people. Simon Blake OBE, Stonewall CEO

A map of the 32 London Boroughs surrounded by a collection of former Borough logos. Coats of arms are excluded unless they were incorporated into logos. Note that current logos are excluded. Of course, many of the lost logos can still be be found on signs etc. but if it is no longer used on the website then it meets my definition of a lost logo! Some classics on here include: - Barnet pump typeface with M1 and trees - Enfield Top London Borough pun - Haringey electricity burst - The Tower Hamlets Neighbourhoods - A rare Brent logo used for about a year
The Lost Logos of the London Boroughs makes its debut away from the other place. Unbelievably, I last updated this 18 months ago. However, with Wandsworth’s retiring of its “brighter borough” skyline logo, it’s time for a new version…
Apologies, it’s hard to do justice to this on alt text…
Lots to unpack, but a really powerful discussion for #IWD2015.
