The same rock before and after lapidary polishing. It's held in a human hand in both instances. On the left, a plain looking white limestone lump, roughly triangular. It has a few pits. On the right, a polished and shiny lump of coral in very roughly hexagonal pattern, a darker grey-brown, with lighter divisions and radiating pattern in each cell.

In parts of Michigan, you can pick up a fairly ordinary chunk of limestone & with some polishing, reveal a coral formation that was laid down when this area was a tropical sea in the Devonian, 350 MYA.

These are Petoskey stones, the state stone of Michigan.

In the 1960s, this absurdly large camera was used to make masks for integrated circuits. The layers of the integrated circuit were drawn at large scale and then optically shrunk to make the glass masks that were used in manufacturing.

It's weird they mention there is no commonality between the COPV's on Starship and Falcon. Why did they not use the proven design from Falcon? Are starships COPV's made in a different factory with a clean sheet design?

Food systems are the #2 contributor to climate change, the #1 driver of deforestation, the #1 driver of biodiversity loss on land, and the #1 user of freshwater.

For those of you who are interested in birds, I recommend the free “Merlin Bird ID” app. A friend introduced me to it and it is wonderful. It uses your phone’s mic to identify bird calls near you and teaches you about each bird.

I made some Micro SD Express adapters, one for M.2 and one for sniffing traffic.

If it works out might do a Flex PCB adapter later on to add external SSD storage to the Switch 2 while docked.
