They do all seem to have woken up this week, seen it, and taken anti-abortion posts as their top lines. It's something 50+ organisations including 6 medical Royal colleges were calling for because of stories like this one which is still with the police - www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/reports/a...

The amendment fits into one post -
"For the purposes of the law related to abortion, including s58 and s59 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, and the Infant Life (Preservation) Act 1929, no offence is committed by a woman acting in relation to her own pregnancy."

The law, when it comes into force, will bring England and Wales into line with Northern Ireland and Scotland, as well as France, Ireland, NZ, Australia, Canada, and even the USA - in saying that the appropriate place for abortion law enforcement is not with a vulnerable, desperate woman.

It’s absolutely shameful and shocking to see high profile women calling themselves feminists, writing screeds about how women who have late term abortions will “kill babies” and that decriminalisation “denies the interests of the baby”.

Calling decriminalisation a “lib fem” issue ffs.

It's time to act No woman should be arrested for ending her own pregnancy. Together, we can stop it. Help us this June.

Honestly I feel like such an idiot - but in the moment I just couldn't get my head straight or the words out. I've done press on this for 7 years, never happened before - typical it happened live and just really hope it never happens again 🙃. Props to the team at #r4today who were super supportive.

For 6 years the police and CPS have pursued this woman alleging she ended her own pregnancy.

Now we know there was no evidence she did anything other than panic when she found out she was pregnant, ordered pills she never took, then had a traumatic stillbirth at home.

The law needs to change.
